Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), has reaffirmed the Nigerian Air Force’s (NAF) commitment to decisive, intelligence-driven operations against insurgent and terrorist groups nationwide.

Speaking during a strategic meeting with Air Component Commanders (ACCs) on Tuesday, the CAS described the forum as a critical warfighting review aimed at enhancing operational effectiveness and accelerating the restoration of peace.

He highlighted that counter-insurgency operations require speed, precision, and relentless pressure on hostile elements. “We must dominate the operational space through superior coordination, innovation, and unwavering professionalism. Every sortie, every mission, and every decision must move us closer to total security restoration,” he stated.

Air Marshal Aneke emphasised that the NAF will continue to project overwhelming airpower in support of ground forces and joint operations. He commended ACCs and their personnel for their courage, endurance, and discipline under demanding combat conditions, noting that their sacrifices have degraded insurgent capabilities and disrupted hostile networks.

The CAS also cautioned that the security environment remains fluid, requiring constant adaptation. He directed commanders to intensify intelligence-led operations, strengthen inter-agency collaboration, and leverage modern technology to counter evolving threats.

Key pillars of sustained operational effectiveness, he noted, include standardised training, predictive maintenance, and rapid logistics support. The meeting involved detailed operational briefings and interactive reviews to ensure a unified roadmap for the NAF.

Air Marshal Aneke assured Nigerians that the Air Force remains vigilant and aggressive in safeguarding civilians, national assets, and territorial integrity. “The Nigerian Air Force stands as a shield over the nation. We remain vigilant, aggressive against threats, and fully aligned with our constitutional duty to safeguard the country,” he affirmed.

He further stated that the NAF will continue to evolve, strengthen partnerships, and apply decisive airpower until lasting peace is secured, urging the public to maintain confidence in the Armed Forces’ dedication, resilience, and professionalism.
