Nigeria Immigration Officer Found Dead in Calabar Apartment

An officer of the Nigeria Immigration Service, identified as Benson Akpama, has been found dead in his apartment in Calabar, the Cross River State capital.

The 30-year-old officer was discovered at his residence at No. 34 Mbora Street, Etta-Agbor, Calabar Municipality over the weekend. An eyewitness told Vanguard that the deceased’s sibling, Joy Benson, who lives at Holland Street, alerted the police about his sudden and “unnatural” death on Friday.

Police immediately visited the scene and observed the body. According to sources, no visible signs of violence were found, and foul play was not initially suspected. The corpse was evacuated to the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital for preservation and autopsy.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Sunday Eitokpah, confirmed the incident, stating, “We are investigating the matter, but no arrest has been made so far. We will keep you abreast as we progress.”

Authorities are continuing investigations to determine the exact cause of death.
