The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has uncovered new tactics employed by drug traffickers who now conceal illicit substances in everyday consumer items such as yoghurt packs and MP3 players. The agency described the discovery as part of evolving narco trends aimed at evading detection by security operatives.

The revelation was made on Sunday by the NDLEA Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, through a post shared on his official X account. According to him, recent operations by NDLEA officers exposed consignments of methamphetamine hidden inside Hollandia yoghurt packs and MP3 players.

Babafemi said the development highlights the growing desperation of drug traffickers and their willingness to exploit ordinary household items to move drugs across locations. He noted that such concealment methods are designed to appear harmless and avoid suspicion during travel and cargo checks.

In his warning to the public, Babafemi urged law abiding citizens to remain vigilant while traveling, whether within Nigeria or internationally. He cautioned against accepting parcels, luggage, or packages from anyone, including acquaintances, as traffickers increasingly rely on unsuspecting individuals to transport drugs.

According to him, NDLEA operatives uncovered the concealed drugs during targeted enforcement operations, adding that the agency has continued to adapt its strategies to counter the changing methods of drug trafficking networks. He emphasized that traffickers constantly modify their approaches, making public awareness and cooperation essential in combating the menace.

The NDLEA reiterated its commitment to intensifying surveillance, intelligence gathering, and public sensitization to curb the spread of illicit drugs. The agency also encouraged citizens to report suspicious activities and items to the nearest NDLEA office.

Babafemi noted that videos shared alongside his post clearly show how the drugs were ingeniously concealed, serving as both evidence of the arrests and a cautionary example to the public. He stressed that the fight against drug trafficking requires collective responsibility and constant alertness, especially as traffickers adopt more deceptive techniques.
