A heated social media confrontation has erupted between media entrepreneur Dele Momodu and former Aviation Minister Femi Fani Kayode, bringing years of political rivalry and personal grievances into the public spotlight.

The controversy began when Fani Kayode took to Facebook with a strongly worded post criticizing Momodu’s career trajectory and political involvement. He accused the Ovation Media Group publisher of opportunism, alleging a pattern of shifting political loyalties for personal advantage. In a series of harsh remarks, Fani Kayode labeled Momodu with derogatory terms and questioned his credibility in Nigeria’s political space.

He further referenced Momodu’s past presidential ambition, pointing to his widely reported poor electoral performance. Fani Kayode also accused him of betraying key political figures such as MKO Abiola and Bola Ahmed Tinubu, claiming his alliances are often driven by financial interests rather than principle. He added that Momodu’s political engagements tend to end unsuccessfully, predicting a similar outcome in future electoral cycles.

In response, Momodu issued a detailed rebuttal on his own Facebook page, describing Fani Kayode as a bully and defending both his personal and professional reputation. He highlighted his achievements in building Ovation Media Group into a globally recognized brand and cited instances where he had supported Fani Kayode in the past, including promoting his family and helping reconcile personal disputes.

Momodu also questioned Fani Kayode’s current relevance, asking what tangible work he is engaged in outside seeking political appointments. His response framed the as baseless and driven by personal resentment.

The clash reflects the often intense and personal nature of Nigeria’s political and media landscape, especially as attention gradually shifts toward the 2027 general elections. Analysts believe such public disputes reveal how personal relationships, influence, and ambition continue to shape national discourse.
