Daniil Medvedev delivered a commanding 6 2 6 1 victory over Jenson Brooksby on Thursday to book his place in a third semi final at the Dubai Tennis Championships.

The former world number one needed just 57 minutes to dispatch Brooksby in their second career meeting. Two early breaks secured the opening set in 28 minutes before Medvedev accelerated through the second to seal a clinical win.

Medvedev, who won the Dubai title in 2023, is aiming to lift the trophy again as he searches for greater consistency on tour. Despite owning 22 career titles, he has never won the same tournament twice. He already claimed silverware this season in Brisbane and is now targeting a second title of the year.

Reflecting on the match, the 30 year old acknowledged that Brooksby appeared to struggle physically but stressed the importance of staying focused. He said strong returning and maintaining pressure were key to his dominant performance.

The victory marked Medvedev 53rd career hard court semi final, placing him second among active players behind Novak Djokovic in that category. A former US Open champion, Medvedev admitted he is working to recapture the carefree mindset that defined his early rise, saying experience sometimes brings overthinking.

He will next face either top seed Felix Auger Aliassime or eighth seed Jiri Lehecka for a place in the final.

Elsewhere in Dubai, Andrey Rublev meets Arthur Rinderknech, while Jakub Mensik faces Tallon Griekspoor to complete the semi final lineup.
