A man named Basiru Hassan lost his life after stepping on an explosive device believed to have been set by bandits in Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State. The incident took place around 5:00 p.m. on Monday, claiming the life of the Unguwan Hayin Jadda resident who had entered the Sarari-Mangoro bush to tap honey. Unaware of the danger, Hassan triggered the device, resulting in an immediate and fatal blast.

His relatives later retrieved his body and performed a burial in line with Islamic traditions. In response, security agencies have issued warnings to local stakeholders and residents, especially in areas vulnerable to bandit activity, urging heightened vigilance when navigating remote paths.
