Non-league side Kings Park Rangers has confirmed that one of their players, Saburi Olayinka Adeniji, has been left brain dead following a catastrophic brain stem injury sustained earlier this month. Adeniji was admitted to intensive care at Queen’s Hospital on January 15, 2026, where his condition has continued to deteriorate.

The club stated that Adeniji is imminently dying and that life support can now be withdrawn following required assessments. In light of this, Kings Park Rangers has launched a GoFundMe campaign aiming to raise £13,000 to cover the travel costs for his family, who are currently in Nigeria, to be by his side in his final moments.

“Saburi was a devoted husband, loving father, and valued member of Kings Park Rangers,” the club said. “His wife and young daughter are in Nigeria, and a short window has been provided for his family to travel to the UK to say their goodbyes.”

Adeniji leaves behind a four-year-old daughter whom he adored. The fundraising efforts will cover an emergency visa application, flights, accommodation, and living expenses for his wife while in the UK.

Just over £8,000 has already been raised, prompting gratitude from the club. “At times like this, the football and non-league community really come together. Raising awareness is just as important as donating,” said Kings Park Rangers, managed by veteran striker Jamie Cureton.

The club continues to appeal for urgent support, emphasizing the importance of enabling Adeniji’s family to be present during this difficult time.
