Iran has issued a stark warning that it will treat any military attack as an “all out war against us,” a senior Iranian official said on Friday, as United States military forces including an aircraft carrier strike group move toward the Middle East.
The official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said Iran’s armed forces are on high alert ahead of the arrival of US assets in the region and that the country’s military is prepared for the worst case scenario. He said that any attack on Iranian territory, no matter how limited, would be regarded as a declaration of full scale war and met with a powerful response.
US President Donald Trump has described a US naval force as an “armada” heading toward Iran but said he hopes it will not be necessary to use it, as he renewed warnings to Tehran over issues such as the suppression of domestic protests and its nuclear program. The senior Iranian official emphasized that if the United States violates Iran’s sovereignty or territorial integrity, Tehran will respond, though he declined to specify exact measures.
The warning comes amid heightened regional tensions, with both sides exchanging sharp rhetoric. Iran’s naval and air defenses have been placed on alert, and authorities have framed the buildup as a defensive posture against possible aggression. The situation has sparked concern among neighbouring states and international observers, with several airlines having already suspended flights to Middle Eastern destinations due to the uncertainty and potential security risks.
