Group Urges Goodluck Jonathan to Consider 2027 Presidential Return

The New Nigeria Integrity Movement Middle Belt Zone has called on former Nigerian president Goodluck Ebele Jonathan to consider returning to national leadership in the 2027 general election.

The appeal was made in a communiqué issued after a strategic meeting of the group where members assessed the current state of the nation and expressed concern over rising insecurity economic hardship and worsening living conditions across the country.

In the statement jointly signed by the group National Leader Peter Hassan and Secretary Blessing Eliagu the movement said Nigeria is facing a critical moment marked by widespread poverty hunger and insecurity particularly in communities across the Middle Belt region.

According to the organisation millions of Nigerians are currently experiencing severe economic challenges with many families struggling daily to afford basic necessities and meals.

The group noted that while infrastructure development remains essential for long term national growth it does not immediately address the urgent crisis of hunger and livelihood affecting many citizens.

It therefore urged Jonathan to offer his leadership experience once again in service to the nation.

The communiqué described the former president as a calm experienced and credible leader capable of restoring hope strengthening trust in governance and introducing policies aimed at easing economic hardship.

Jonathan served as president of Nigeria from 2010 to 2015 and has remained a prominent figure in the country political landscape.

The movement also called on democratic partners around the world to support initiatives that strengthen democratic governance and ility in Nigeria.

It praised Jonathan leadership style during his time in office highlighting his respect for democratic principles adherence to the rule of law and commitment to national unity.

The group further argued that his possible return to leadership could reinforce the principle of power rotation which it described as an important factor in maintaining political balance and ility in the country.

According to the organisation its appeal is not based on partisan interests but on concern for the wellbeing of Nigerians and the urgent need for national recovery.

The movement urged citizens to continue advocating peacefully for responsible leadership and policies that prioritise human welfare economic recovery and national cohesion.
