Umar Abdullahi Umar, son of the immediate past national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Executive Director, Technical Services at the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), has handed out aid to more than 3,000 APC supporters in Kano State.

The launch of the first phase took place at Armani Event Centre in Kano. A statement issued on Monday in Abuja by Edwin Olofu, Chief Press Secretary to the former APC chairman, said the items were given to youths across all 44 local government areas. The package focused on farming inputs and tools meant to help beneficiaries earn a living and become self-reliant.

Umar described the distribution as the start of a larger plan aimed especially at youth and women across the state. He said the scheme was motivated by a desire to help people beyond his own Tofa/Dawakin-Tofa, Rimingado federal constituency.

“We have already begun plans for the next phase of this empowerment. This is not the end. Any APC member who did not receive support today should not lose hope; your turn will come,” he assured.

Items given out included tricycles, mini-trucks, fertilisers, herbicides, improved seedlings, solar-powered equipment, irrigation pumps, agro-processing machines and other modern farm tools. Umar urged recipients not to sell the items but to use them to improve their incomes.

He thanked APC leaders in Kano for inspiring the effort, naming Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, Dr. Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, Murtala Sule Garo, Abba Bichi and Mariya Bunkure as sources of motivation.

Beneficiaries expressed joy and gratitude, calling the support timely and life-changing. Plans for a second phase are already under way, organisers said.
