The Federal Road Safety Corps in Plateau State has issued a stern warning to motorists and revellers to avoid drunk-driving and other hazardous behaviours during Valentine’s Day celebrations.

The State Sector Commander, Adelaja Ogungbemi, made the warning in a statement signed by the Corps’ Public Education Officer, Peter Longsan, emphasizing the importance of road safety during the festive period.

According to Ogungbemi, the warning aligns with directives from Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed to ensure maximum safety on Nigerian roads and prevent loss of life. “We will not tolerate drunk-driving, speeding, and reckless driving. Enforcement of these and other excesses will be sanctioned,” he said.

The FRSC official added that continuous education of motorists remains a priority and urged drivers to exercise caution while on the roads. He also reminded the public to report any concerns or incidents to the FRSC through official contact channels.

Ogungbemi stressed that all road users must prioritize safety and avoid behaviours that could endanger themselves or others. The directive reflects the Corps’ commitment to enforcing traffic laws and promoting responsible driving, especially during high-traffic festive periods like Valentine’s Day.

Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead, drive sober, adhere to speed limits, and observe all traffic regulations to ensure a safe celebration for everyone.
