The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has clarified his position regarding his support for President Bola Tinubu, stating that Nigerians already know where he stands and that he does not need any meeting to declare his support.
Wike made this disclosure during an end-of-year media chat in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, where he dismissed recent allegations by Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State. Makinde had claimed that during a 2024 visit to the State House, Wike promised to “hold PDP” for Tinubu.
Responding to this, Wike said, “Seyi said I told Tinubu that I will hold PDP for him. Nothing like that happened. Everyone knows my stand on Tinubu, I don’t need a meeting to tell him that.”
He added that as a minister, he has a duty to ensure that members of the G-5 group benefit from the Tinubu administration in various ways.
Wike also criticized Governor Makinde for not accounting to his people on the use of N50 billion intervention funds from Tinubu, which were meant for addressing the January 2024 explosion in the Bodija area of Oyo State. He stressed that such funds should have been properly appropriated before being spent.
