Entertainment Week Ghana Launches in December with Idris Elba Collaboration

Entertainment Week Ghana (EWG) is set to launch from December 21 to 27, 2025, in Accra, aiming to elish the nation as a pivotal hub for Africa’s creative and cultural economy. This weeklong event will gather industry leaders, investors, creators, and entrepreneurs to foster innovation and capital investment in the sector.

The central feature is the Entertainment Week Ghana Summit on December 24 at the Accra International Conference Centre. It will convene policymakers, investors, and industry experts to discuss Africa’s creative transformation, focusing on financing, intellectual property, and cultural policies. A key component, The Deal Room, will allow startups to pitch their creative ventures directly to potential investors, facilitating access to funding and mentorship.

The summit will introduce the Novas Awards, celebrating excellence in various creative fields while highlighting emerging talents. The Entertainment Week Ghana Film Festival, in partnership with Idris Elba’s Akuna Pod, will showcase African and diaspora storytelling through films and discussions.

Idris Elba is also building a film studio beside Osu Castle to train Ghanaian creatives, further enhancing the local cinematic landscape. Additionally, the vibrant Airwaves music festival by Lynx Entertainment will feature top performers against the backdrop of Accra’s beaches during the festive Detty December period.

Kicking off the week is Mununkum, an art exhibition reflecting Africa’s evolving identity through visual storytelling. The sustainable fashion showcase, Atale, will spotlight eco-conscious brands redefining contemporary African style.

With endorsements from various governmental and educational bos, EWG seeks to attract investments to bolster Ghana’s entertainment sector. A UNESCO report highlights Africa’s potential in the creative economy, predicting significant job creation and GDP growth by 2030, emphasizing the urgent need for investment in this transformative movement.
