The Delta State Police Command has arrested a suspected cultist and armed robber, as well as a man found in possession of illicit drugs, following separate operations across the state.
According to a statement by the Delta Police Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, the first arrest occurred on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at about 1:20 a.m. Operatives of the Ekpan Division, led by Divisional Police Officer Labe Joseph, were on patrol along Hausa Market, Ubeji, when they noticed five men loitering suspiciously. Upon seeing the police, the suspects fled in different directions.
One of the suspects, identified as Gift Ojulowo, 30, of New Layout, Ubeji, was apprehended. A search of Ojulowo led to the recovery of a locally fabricated gun and two live cartridges hidden in his trousers. During interrogation, he reportedly confessed to being a member of the Aye Confraternity cult group. The suspect and recovered items are currently in police custody, while investigations continue to track down other fleeing members of the gang.
In a separate operation, officers of the Raiders Unit, acting on credible intelligence, arrested 43-year-old Obi Onuigbi Ndubuoso on January 8, 2026, at around 1:30 p.m. A search of the suspect led to the seizure of 36 bottles of illicit drugs, popularly known as Laughing Gas (Nitrous Oxide). The operation was supervised by Akanya Agbogha, Commander of the Raiders Unit. The suspect and recovered drugs are now in police custody, and authorities are investigating the sources and distribution channels.
The Delta State Police Command emphasized its commitment to tackling cultism, armed robbery, and the illegal drug trade, urging residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities.
