Delta Police Arrest 10 Suspects in Kidnapping, Armed Robbery, and Cultist Operations

The Delta State Police Command has arrested 10 suspects, including five members of a kidnapping and armed robbery syndicate and five suspected cultists, in coordinated operations across the state.

Police Public Relations Officer SP Bright Edafe disclosed that on January 20, 2026, at about 0430 hours, operatives of the Special Anti-Kidnapping and Cybercrime Squad (SAKCCS) conducted a follow-up operation based on credible intelligence along the Jedo/Ugboton–Warri axis. The raid targeted a criminal hideout allegedly run by Oke Jerry Ekokodjie and a suspect identified only as Ibori. The operation led to the arrest of both principal suspects alongside three other gang members, while some accomplices escaped via nearby creeks.

Recovered items included a locally fabricated Beretta-style pistol, three rounds of 9mm live ammunition, a Mercedes-Benz GLK, a battle axe, illicit substances, and a Point-of-Sale (POS) machine. The suspects are currently in police custody undergoing further investigation.

In a separate operation on January 22, 2026, at about 0256 hours, officers from Obiaruku Division raided a suspected cultist hideout at Amai Community, Ndokwa East LGA, arresting five suspects: Frank Etiyemonu (36), Chinedu Emeka (25), Festus Nwadiche (26), Azuju Onowu (29), and Ozor Blessing (29). Confiscated items included a locally made pistol, two battle axes, quantities of Indian hemp, and other hard drugs.

Commissioner of Police CP Aina Adesola commended the operatives for their professionalism, emphasizing the command’s commitment to intelligence-led, proactive policing to rid Delta State of criminal elements. Residents were urged to remain vigilant and support law enforcement with credible information, with assurances of confidentiality.
