A suicide car bombing and armed assault targeted a military post in the Boya area of North Waziristan, Pakistan, leading to the deaths of four soldiers and injuries to at least 15 civilians, including women and children. This area has a history of being a stronghold for the Pakistani Taliban and other militant groups.

The assault commenced when militants attempted to breach the military post’s perimeter, which soldiers successfully repelled initially. Following this, a vehicle laden with explosives was driven into the post’s outer wall, causing a significant explosion that also damaged nearby homes and a mosque. The blast resulted in the collapse of structures and injuries to several civilians. A firefight ensued, during which all the attackers were neutralized by military forces.

The Pakistani military identified the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) as responsible for the attack, highlighting its role in escalating violence in the region since 2021. They claimed the assault was coordinated from across the border in Afghanistan and accused the Afghan Taliban of sheltering the TTP. In response, Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the Afghan Taliban’s deputy head of mission to lodge a formal protest, calling for immediate action against the militant groups operating from Afghan territory. Afghanistan’s government denied these accusations.
