Licensed cryptocurrency exchange Busha has announced its evolution from a crypto trading platform into a full-service digital money app, unveiling a new brand identity and expanded financial offerings. The transformation includes a redesigned mobile app, a refreshed logo, and the launch of products that integrate cryptocurrency with traditional money management.

Busha was one of two digital asset exchanges licensed by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in 2024 under its Accelerated Regulatory Incubation Programme (ARIP), designed to onboard pre-existing crypto firms into a regulated framework.

Commenting on the transformation, Busha’s co-founder and CEO, Michael Adeyeri, said, “We started Busha as a trusted, regulated gateway to crypto in Nigeria. Over time, it became clear that crypto was not the end goal; it was the foundation. What we are building now is broader and more ambitious: a single money app where Africans can live their entire financial lives. This brand refresh represents more than a new look for Busha; it marks a new chapter in how we serve our users.”

Co-founder and COO, Moyo Sodipo, added that the rollout is just the beginning, with plans to expand into other emerging markets while prioritising user feedback and delivering products that meet real financial needs.

The redesigned app aims for simplicity and clarity, catering to both new and experienced users. New product offerings include local currency savings accounts, allowing users to earn competitive interest, and asset-backed loans, initially pegged to cryptocurrency, enabling users to access liquidity without selling their investments.

Busha’s expansion comes amid growing adoption of digital finance and stablecoins in emerging markets, driven by increasing financial literacy, regulatory clarity, and demand for alternative financial solutions. The platform currently serves over one million users in Nigeria and Kenya and aims to introduce additional services as it continues its regional growth.
