Bashir Ahmad, who served as a media aide to the late President Muhammadu Buhari, has shared his thoughts on Peter Obi’s political journey, saying the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate is a decent man whose goals are being blocked by those around him.

In a post on his 𝕏 account, Ahmad suggested that Obi should drop his 2027 presidential ambition and instead support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He believes this would help create a better political future for everyone involved.

Ahmad wrote, “Peter is a good person, but the people around him will never allow him to achieve his dream.”

He encouraged Obi’s followers to advise him to make a sacrifice now by backing Tinubu, saying this would open the door for others to return the favor later.

Ahmad said, “If you genuinely want him to succeed, advise him to sacrifice today so that others can sacrifice for him tomorrow. Tell him to come and join us; let President Tinubu complete his mandate in 2031, and then the future remains open for everyone.”

He also took aim at Obi’s supporters for what he called reckless behavior online. According to Ahmad, the kind of content they post publicly could reflect even more troubling conversations happening in private.

“With this reckless content you post publicly, one can only imagine the kind of things you tell him privately,” he said.

Ahmad’s comments come at a time when there is growing talk of a possible alliance between opposition leaders, including Obi and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, as they consider teaming up to challenge Tinubu in the 2027 election.
