APC Replaces Uzodimma With Masari As Convention Committee Chairman

The All Progressives Congress has appointed former Katsina State governor Aminu Bello Masari as the new Chairman of the National Convention Central Coordination Committee ahead of the party convention scheduled for March 27 and 28 2026. He replaces Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma following a fresh reconstitution approved by the party leadership.

The development was announced in a statement signed by the APC National Secretary Surajudeen Basiru and shared on the party official X page on Friday. According to the statement the changes followed further consultations with party leaders and national stakeholders as preparations intensify for the forthcoming national convention.

The statement noted that the Central Coordination Committee had been reconstituted and that additional sub committees would be set up and announced in due course. The convention is expected to culminate in the election of new members of the National Working Committee which will steer the affairs of the party in the coming years.

As part of the new arrangement Uzodimma who was earlier named chairman of the committee has been reassigned to serve as Treasurer. The party also expanded the size of the committee from 73 members to 90 members bringing in more party chieftains to strengthen coordination and planning efforts.

New members added to the committee include Senator Barry Mpigi alongside other senior figures within the party. Former Senate President Anyim Pius Anyim was appointed Vice Chairman I while Kwara State Governor and Chairman of the Nigeria Governors Forum AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq will serve as Vice Chairman II.

Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni was retained as Secretary of the committee ensuring continuity in the administrative coordination of the convention process.

The changes come just days after the party had earlier unveiled Uzodimma as chairman a move that had signaled intensified preparations. The latest reshuffle reflects internal adjustments aimed at delivering a successful and well coordinated national convention for the ruling party.
