Aliko Dangote Makes 2026 TIME100 List of World’s Most Influential People

Africa’s foremost industrialist Aliko Dangote has been named among the world’s most influential figures in the 2026 TIME100 list released by TIME Magazine on April 15.

The prestigious annual list recognizes global leaders shaping the future across politics business technology and culture. Among those featured are Donald Trump Xi Jinping Benjamin Netanyahu Mark Carney and Pope Leo XIV.

In the technology space notable names include Sundar Pichai and Neal Mohan reflecting the growing global influence of tech leadership.

Dangote who is the founder of Dangote Group is the only Nigerian on the 2026 list and appears in the Titans category. This marks his second inclusion having first been honored in 2014 for his impact on business and philanthropy.

According to TIME Dangote’s recognition stems from his significant contributions to Africa’s industrialisation through investments in cement agriculture food processing infrastructure and energy. His strategy of leveraging local resources to build globally competitive industries has positioned him as a key driver of economic transformation on the continent.

Beyond business Dangote’s philanthropic efforts through the Aliko Dangote Foundation were also highlighted particularly in healthcare education and economic empowerment initiatives.

Other figures featured on the list include actors Ranbir Kapoor Dakota Johnson and Kate Hudson.

Meanwhile Dangote Industries Limited has unveiled its long term Vision 2030 strategy focused on expanding its global footprint and strengthening core sectors such as cement fertiliser and energy while exploring new opportunities in steel power and port infrastructure.
