ADC Vows to Shake Up 2027 Elections, Promises Inclusive Leadership Without Political Godfathers

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has expressed confidence in its ability to make a major impact in the 2027 general elections, even without the backing of any current state governors.

Speaking to journalists in Bauchi on Monday, the party’s National Vice Chairman, Senator Nazif Gamawa, dismissed the idea that lacking incumbents would hinder their chances. He pointed to historical precedent, noting that former President Muhammadu Buhari once won the presidency without the support of sitting governors.

Gamawa declared that Nigerians are ready for a new political direction, and the ADC is prepared to lead that change. “The people have already believed that a new political movement is the option, so ADC is the saviour. We are giving them one blow,” he said.

He also addressed rumors of internal strife within the party, firmly stating that the ADC remains united and open to welcoming reform-minded politicians from other parties who are disillusioned with the status quo.

In a bid to encourage broader participation, Gamawa emphasized that the ADC will keep its nomination fees low to ensure that aspiring leaders from all walks of life can contest for office. He believes this approach will attract credible candidates who are passionate about public service.

A former Deputy National Chairman of the PDP, Gamawa said he and the current ADC leadership are committed to repositioning the party as a serious contender on the national stage. He assured Nigerians that an ADC-led government would prioritize fairness, inclusion, and accountability.

He also urged citizens to take their civic responsibilities seriously by registering for and collecting their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), stressing that voting is a powerful tool to end poor governance.

Gamawa criticized the current political landscape, which he said is dominated by a small group of elites. He pledged that the ADC would work to empower young Nigerians and create pathways for them to participate meaningfully in politics.

With a message centered on reform, accessibility, and grassroots engagement, the ADC is positioning itself as a fresh alternative in Nigeria’s evolving political arena.
