Ukwa East State Constituency lawmaker in the Abia State House of Assembly, Hon. Lewis Obianyi, has officially defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the Labour Party (LP), citing Governor Alex Otti’s inclusive and impactful governance as the driving factor. Obianyi, alongside key political stakeholders from Ukwa East LGA, visited Governor Otti on Saturday as part of the formal process ahead of an official reception.

During the visit, Obianyi commended Otti’s tangible achievements, noting that the governor has provided infrastructural foundations that will benefit Abia State beyond his tenure. He emphasized that their move was motivated by good governance rather than party loyalty.

Governor Otti welcomed the decampees, highlighting that his political focus remains the welfare and happiness of Abia citizens. He assured them of government support for ongoing projects, including the state-of-the-art general hospital in Ukwa East, which is set to begin construction immediately on a newly donated site.
