The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has announced that the controversial requirement for women to present a letter of approval from their husband as part of the visa application process has been scrapped. This decision marks a significant shift in the agency’s approach to visa regulations.
The NDLEA’s spokesman, Femi Babafemi, disclosed this update in a statement released on Thursday. Babafemi confirmed that the entire visa clearance procedure issued by the NDLEA, which is required by certain countries, is currently undergoing review.
He emphasized that the removal of the controversial condition is part of efforts to ensure that the agency’s processes are aligned with modern standards and uphold the principles of gender equality.
The NDLEA’s move to review and update its visa clearance requirements reflects an ongoing commitment to providing fair and transparent services while adapting to international best practices. The agency’s decision is expected to improve the experience of Nigerian women applying for visas, ensuring they are not subjected to discriminatory requirements.
Why should spouses have any say in visa applications? Its your life, your choice. NDLEA made the right move!
I dont see what the big deal is, husbands should have a say in their wives visa applications. Its about trust and partnership!
I dont see why this was even a requirement in the first place. About time they got rid of it!
I dont see what the big deal is. If spouses need approval to travel, so be it. Safety first, right?
I dont get the big deal. Maybe husbands should have a say in visa applications. Just saying 🤷♂️
I dont see what the big deal is. If a husbands approval was required before, why not keep it? #controversialopinion
I think requiring husband approval for visas is outdated. People should make their own decisions. Its 2021, not the 1800s!

I dont see the big deal with the husband approval requirement. Its not that deep. People need to chill.
I think its ridiculous that spouses had to approve visa applications in the first place. About time its removed!

I dont see why anyone would be upset about NDLEA removing the husband approval requirement. Its about time!
Traditional views have no place in modern society. Equality for all is long overdue.
