The Labour Party has declared that it currently does not operate any active social media account, cautioning Nigerians against relying on information from unauthorized platforms.

This clarification was made by Ken Asogwa, Senior Special Adviser on Media to the party’s interim leadership, in a statement issued in Abuja. He revealed that the party’s attention had been drawn to a fraudulent X account posing as its official communication channel.

According to Asogwa, the account operating under the name “LABOUR PARTY LP NIG” and handle @LabourpartyNGR_ falsely claims to represent the party. He explained that the same account had previously been disowned, but its operators ced its identity to continue misleading the public.

He emphasized that the party’s known social media platforms, including its Facebook page and the X handle LabourPartyNG, are currently inactive and not being used for official communication.

The party has reportedly petitioned the Nigeria Police Force to help recover control of its verified X account. Individuals linked to the issue, including Julius Abure and Umar Farouk, are said to be cooperating with investigators as the matter is being handled by the Force Intelligence Department.

Asogwa reiterated that all official communications from the Labour Party are currently issued only through formal press statements from the office of the interim national chairman. He added that any future ces to this arrangement would be clearly communicated.

The party also dismissed recent claims circulating online regarding the possible return of Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, describing such reports as false and unauthorized.

The Labour Party urged the public and media organizations to remain vigilant and disregard misleading content from unofficial sources, reaffirming its commitment to transparency and proper communication channels.
