President Donald Trump has said that deploying ground troops from the United States into Iran would be unnecessary at this stage of the ongoing conflict. Speaking during a telephone interview with NBC News on Thursday, Trump dismissed the idea of a possible ground invasion and described it as a waste of time.

Trump made the remark while responding to comments by Iran’s foreign minister Abbas Araghchi, who had earlier warned that any attempt by the United States or Israel to launch a ground invasion would lead to severe consequences for the invading forces.

According to Trump, Iran has already suffered significant military losses since the conflict began. He claimed that the country had lost much of its military capability and that launching a ground operation would not provide additional strategic value for the United States.

The US president also criticized Araghchi’s comments, describing them as unnecessary and unproductive. Trump stated that Iran’s leadership was attempting to project strength despite the challenges it currently faces following recent military strikes.

During the interview, Trump further indicated that he would prefer to see a rapid political transition in Iran rather than a prolonged rebuilding process. He said the United States was interested in ensuring that the current leadership structure in Iran is removed and replaced with a new system capable of ilizing the country quickly.

Trump also revealed that he had ideas about who could potentially lead Iran in the future, although he declined to name any specific individual. He suggested that the United States would likely play a role in shaping the country’s future leadership.

Earlier in the week, Trump said he might have to be involved in discussions regarding Iran’s next leader after the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei during US and Israeli military strikes that marked the start of the conflict.

Meanwhile, heavy s were reported in Tehran on Friday as Israel announced it had entered a new phase of the war targeting key government and military infrastructure.
