Chairman of Agege Local Government Area, Abdul-Ganiyu Obasa, has arrived in Rabat to show support for Nigeria’s Super Eagles ahead of their crucial 2025 Africa Cup of Nations semi-final clash against Morocco. The match is scheduled for 9:00 pm at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium.
This encounter marks Nigeria’s first AFCON meeting with Morocco in 22 years and only the second time both sides face off in an AFCON semi-final. The Super Eagles boast key players including Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman, Alex Iwobi, Calvin Bassey, and Akor Adams, giving them a strong squad to challenge the North African hosts.
Speaking ahead of the match, Obasa described the semi-final as a defining moment in the tournament.
“This semi-final against Morocco is a critical juncture where pedigree, pressure, and expectation converge as AFCON 2025 heads towards its climax,” he said.
Obasa called on all Nigerians to support the team, emphasizing the importance of national backing as the Eagles aim to reclaim their status as Africa’s champions.
“The team’s impressive performances against Tunisia and Algeria demonstrate their ability to take on North African opponents,” he added.
Addressing the absence of captain Wilfred Ndidi due to suspension, Obasa expressed confidence that leadership on the field would be maintained by Victor Osimhen, the stand-in captain.
“With an unwavering mindset and the tactical brilliance of Eric Chelle guiding team selection and match strategy, I have full confidence that the Super Eagles will secure victory against Morocco,” he concluded.
