Afia TV’s ‘Alaigbo Creative Circle’ Launches Inaugural Workshop to Support Creatives from the South-East

Afia TV’s Alaigbo Creative Circle launched its inaugural workshop on September 12-13, 2025, at Café One in Enugu, aimed at empowering emerging talents in Nigeria’s Southeast. The two-day event attracted over 70 participants, including writers, artists, photographers, and cinematographers, reflecting Afia TV’s commitment to nurturing local creatives and fostering a sustainable creative ecosystem in the region.

Esteemed facilitators, including Nwoba Alexis of Lexis Photography, artist and sculptor Sunday Chukwu, and media strategist Franklin Ogalanya, provided hands-on training and mentorship. Participants gained essential practical skills relevant to today’s creative economy. Vera Chidimma Okoh, Afia TV’s Brand & Business Development Manager, highlighted the workshop’s significance, encouraging participants to apply their newfound skills in “My Enugu Story,” a flagship competition promoting regional storytelling.

The workshop received positive feedback from facilitators and participants alike. Sunday Chukwu described the initiative as a “refreshing chance” to impart knowledge to the next generation, while Adachukwu Onwudiwe emphasized the importance of nurturing homegrown talent. Participants appreciated the blend of expert instruction, practical sessions, and networking opportunities, leaving with enhanced skills and renewed confidence.

To sustain the initiative, Afia TV is seeking partnerships with individuals, brands, and development organizations to sponsor future editions of the Alaigbo Creative Circle. This effort aims to further invest in the Southeast’s creative economy and its emerging storytellers and innovators, reinforcing Afia TV’s dedication to cultivating local talent and supporting the growth of the region’s creative industries.
