Lady Gaga leads 2025 MTV Video Music Awards nominations with 12 nods, followed by Bruno Mars with 11 and Kendrick Lamar with 10

Lady Gaga has emerged as the leading nominee for the 2025 Video Music Awards (VMAs), securing 12 and ending Taylor Swift’s two-year reign at the top. Gaga’s nods span major categories, Artist, Song, Video, and Album of the Year, as well as technical categories like Visual and Cinematography.

Mars follows closely with 11 nominations, while Kendrick has earned 10. Other notable contenders include Sabrina Carpenter and Blackpink’s ROSÉ, each with eight nominations, and Ariana Grande and The Weeknd, each with seven.

The Artist of the Year category features a competitive lineup: Lady Gaga, Bad Bunny, Beyoncé, Kendrick Lamar, Morgan Wallen, Taylor Swift, and The Weeknd. Beyoncé and Swift are tied for the most VMAs in history, each with 30 awards. A in this category would a new record for the most-awarded in VMA history.

Gaga’s collaboration with Bruno Mars, “Die With A Smile,” is among the contenders for Video of the Year. Other nominees in this category include Grande’s “Brighter Days Ahead,” Eilish’s “ of a Feather,” Lamar’s “Not Like Us,” ROSÉ and Mars’ “APT.,” Carpenter’s “Manchild,” and The Weeknd and Playboi Carti’s “Timeless.”
