The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has emerged victorious in all 21 local government chairmanship positions and all 239 councillorship seats in Kogi State’s recently concluded local council elections held on Saturday. The results were announced by the chairperson of the Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission (KOSIEC), Mamman Nda-Eri, who described the elections as “peaceful, free, and fair.”

According to Nda-Eri, the APC outperformed the 18 other political parties that participated, securing a landslide victory across all local governments. “APC performed excellently; it cleared all the chairmanship and councillorship positions, leaving nothing to the other 18 political parties that took part in the election,” Nda-Eri said, as reported by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

Nda-Eri also noted that the election results declared at the KOSIEC headquarters were consistent with the outcomes announced earlier at the various collation centers by respective returning officers. The chairperson expressed gratitude to all involved in the electoral process, acknowledging the contributions of election officials, security personnel, observers, and journalists. Their efforts, he said, played a crucial role in ensuring a successful, orderly, and transparent election.

The APC’s dominance in the local government elections further consolidates its political influence in Kogi State as the party continues to hold a firm grip on both local and state-level governance. This sweeping victory highlights the party’s organizational strength and voter support across the state.
