EU Launches Climate Month to Foster Sustainability Ahead of COP29

The European Union (EU) has kicked off a series of strategic to celebrate its Climate in anticipation of COP29, which is set to take place in Baku, Azerbaijan, next month. These events are designed to promote sustainability through climate action and highlight the collaborative efforts between the EU, Nigeria, and other key stakeholders in advancing sustainable development.

Under the theme “Opportunities for Green Together,” the EU Climate Month features a range of impactful activities aimed at fostering and sharing best . Massimo De Luca, Head of Cooperation at the EU Delegation to Nigeria and ECOWAS, stated that these events, organized within the framework of the EU’s Global Gateway , exemplify how the EU is creating avenues for innovation, green , and shared climate responsibility.

Recently, senior representatives from European , alongside public and entities from Nigeria, convened in to explore opportunities in the Nigerian , particularly in relation to the upcoming launch of the EU Global Green Bonds Initiative. This initiative is anticipated to green investments ranging from €15 to €20 billion, significantly contributing to environmental sustainability efforts in the region.

De Luca the EU’s to driving sustainable solutions in partnership with Nigeria, stating, “EU Climate Month reflects our deep commitment to driving sustainable solutions in partnership with Nigeria.” He highlighted that each event provides a platform not only for sharing knowledge and best practices but also for inspiring innovation to tackle climate challenges. The overarching goal is to lasting, impactful through collaboration, both Nigeria and the EU to grow green together.
