The Youth Alliance for Northern Development, YAND, has congratulated Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma on his appointment as the “Renewed Hope Ambassador” by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. YAND said the move shows the president is committed to national reorientation, political stability, and building support at the local level.
YAND spoke warmly about the appointment and said northern youths see it as deserved. The group also stressed that the role will only succeed if Governor Uzodinma’s office works closely with the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Citizenship and Leadership. That office is held by Hon. Nasir Bala Aminu Ja’oji.
Seyi Olorunsola, YAND’s convener, made the point clear in a statement. He said the northern youths “wish to emphasize a critical point that we believe will determine the true success and national impact of this new ambassadorial role: the immediate and deliberate collaboration between Governor Uzodinma’s office and the Office of the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the President on Citizenship and Leadership, currently held by Hon. Nasir Bala Aminu Ja’oji.”
Olorunsola noted that YAND has followed Hon. Nasir Bala Aminu Ja’oji’s work since his appointment. He said the SSA has shown strong action in promoting citizenship and civic values among young Nigerians. Olorunsola added that the SSA has begun work to help people better understand governance across many communities.
He also said, “In recent months, Hon. Aminu Ja’oji has taken bold, practical, and innovative steps to reposition the youth for leadership. His engagements with youth groups, community leaders, and civil society, including hosting the leadership of YAND during our recent courtesy visit, reflect a hands-on commitment to national rebirth, unity, and civic responsibility.
“His office is currently laying the foundational framework for nationwide programmes aimed at cultivating new mindsets, strengthening patriotism, and bridging the communication gap between leaders and the led.
“It is for this reason that YAND believes that any effort aimed at advancing the Renewed Hope vision must not run separately from the work of the SSA on Citizenship and Leadership. Instead, both offices must operate as partners and co-architects of the same national agenda.”
YAND said the mandates of the two offices match well. Governor Uzodinma’s role focuses on mobilisation, political education, and local outreach. The SSA’s work centers on building civic awareness, shaping national values, and helping citizens connect with government policies.
Olorunsola argued that a planned partnership will keep the message consistent. He said a clear and coordinated approach will help the Renewed Hope agenda reach every state and community in a simple and steady way.
