World Cancer Day Polaris Bank Launches Nationwide Free Cancer Screening Initiative

Ahead of World Cancer Day marked on February 4 2026 Polaris Bank has reaffirmed its commitment to community health and social responsibility with the launch of a nationwide free breast cancer screening initiative. The programme is being implemented in partnership with its NGO partner Care Organisation and Public Enlightenment.

The initiative is aimed at promoting awareness screening early detection and preventive care while reinforcing the bank belief that access to quality health services is essential for personal wellbeing and economic growth.

As part of activities to mark World Cancer Day Polaris Bank will offer free and comprehensive breast cancer screening to 100 women across Nigeria. In addition the bank is supporting an ongoing free prostate cancer screening programme for 250 men aged 40 years and above which it had previously sponsored.

The prostate cancer screening is currently being conducted at the Men’s Clinic located at 18 Commercial Avenue Sabo Yaba Lagos. The facility provides accessible and professional medical services for men seeking early diagnosis and preventive care.

Both initiatives align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals including Goal 3 which focuses on good health and wellbeing Goal 5 which promotes gender equality through prioritising women health and Goal 17 which encourages partnerships through collaboration with civil society organisations.

In addition to screening services Polaris Bank will deploy educational materials community engagement sessions and digital awareness campaigns to strengthen public understanding of early detection healthy lifestyle choices and the importance of routine medical checkups.

Speaking on the initiative the Group Head Brand Management and Corporate Communications at Polaris Bank Rasheed Bolarinwa said early detection remains one of the most effective ways to reduce cancer related deaths. He explained that by removing financial barriers and bringing screening services closer to communities the bank aims to empower individuals to seek timely medical attention.

The main breast cancer screening event will take place on Saturday February 21 2026 at the Care Organisation and Public Enlightenment Centre located at 39B Adeniyi Jones Avenue Ikeja Lagos from 10 am to 2 pm. Trained health professionals and volunteers will conduct the exercise and provide guidance on cancer prevention self examination and follow up care.

Participation is open to women who hold a Polaris Bank account and have completed pre registration through the official link bit.ly BCS2026. Selection will be based on early confirmed submissions.
