Wolverhampton Wanderers have sacked manager Vítor Pereira after a poor start to the 2025-26 Premier League season, leaving the team winless and at the bottom of the table. The decision followed a 3-0 defeat to Fulham, marking the club’s 10th consecutive league game without a win, and they have managed just two points from a possible 30.
Pereira, who took charge in December 2024 and successfully led the team to safety last season, faced criticism this season due to a lackluster performance. Wolves have struggled severely, scoring the fewest goals and possessing the worst defense in the league. The loss against Fulham was particularly disheartening, especially since Wolves were reduced to 10 men in the first half. Fans voiced their frustration with chants of “You’re getting sacked in the morning,” aimed at Pereira, and directed discontent towards the club’s Chinese ownership.
In his post-match comments, Pereira acknowledged that the team’s performance was one of the worst during his tenure, emphasizing the importance of self-assessment in judging his performance. Following his dismissal, youth coaches James Collins and Richard Walker have stepped in as interim managers while the club seeks a permanent replacement. This action marks the fourth managerial change in the Premier League this season.
Wolves’ next challenge will be a match against Chelsea, taking place before the upcoming international break. The club is under pressure to improve and reverse its fortunes in the league.
