Brentford forward Yoane Wissa has openly voiced his frustration regarding the club’s failure to honor a previous agreement about his potential summer transfer. The 28-year-old DR Congo international, who scored 20 goals in all competitions last season, claims that Brentford’s management had assured him, both verbally and in written form, that they would not obstruct his exit if a reasonable offer came in. However, the club reportedly rejected at least two bids from Newcastle United, including one that amounted to £35 million with an additional £5 million in add-ons.

As Wissa’s contract is set to expire in June next year and with the transfer window closing soon, he is urging Brentford to uphold their commitment and allow him to seek new opportunities. This matter is further complicated by recent changes within the club, such as the departure of long-serving manager Thomas Frank and the sale of key players like Bryan Mbeumo and Christian Norgaard. Wissa’s situation has become more precarious as these shifts may influence the team’s overall direction and stability.

In light of this, he hopes for a resolution that would grant him the chance to pursue a new challenge, aligning with the initial understanding he had with the club. Brentford has yet to comment on the situation, as inquiries remain unanswered. Wissa’s statements highlight the tension between player aspirations and club decisions, emphasizing the complexities often encountered during transfer negotiations.
