Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has declared that his political movement, known as the Rainbow Coalition, will secure all elective positions in Rivers State during the 2027 general elections.
Wike made the assertion on Wednesday during a “thank you” visit to Asari Toru Local Government Area, as part of his tour across the state’s 23 local councils to appreciate supporters who backed him and President Bola Tinubu in the 2023 elections. The Rainbow Coalition operates under the Renewed Hope Family, an initiative Wike established to mobilise cross-party support for Tinubu’s anticipated 2027 re-election bid.
According to the former Rivers governor, politicians in the state have moved beyond partisan divisions to focus on collective interests. “After Tinubu, the rainbow coalition will produce every elective position in Rivers State in 2027. So, if you don’t belong to this rainbow family, forget it,” Wike declared.
He highlighted benefits Rivers State has gained from supporting Tinubu in 2023, assuring residents that greater dividends of democracy lie ahead. “This year will be better than last year,” he said, praising community leaders for their loyalty and the political risks they took, which he noted are now yielding positive results.
Wike also reaffirmed his unwavering support for President Tinubu, while criticising Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, whom he described as ungrateful. He maintained that unity within the Renewed Hope Family has strengthened the political structure in the state.
Responding, Asari Toru LGA Chairman, Onengiyeofori George, thanked Wike for his contributions to the area and pledged continued unity under the coalition. State Assembly member Michael West also praised Wike’s leadership, crediting him with installing the first Ijaw governor since Nigeria’s return to democracy and vowing continued loyalty.
Wike concluded by stressing that gratitude, accountability, and unity remain the foundation of his political movement, describing the Rainbow Coalition as a family committed to shaping Rivers State’s future.
