Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike has declared his unwavering stance against political adversaries, promising to remain a thorn in their side as long as he operates within the bounds of the law.
Speaking at a press briefing following the FCT Executive Committee meeting on Thursday, Wike addressed the recent controversy surrounding his confrontation with naval officer Lt. A.M. Yerima. The clash occurred during a heated dispute over a parcel of land in Abuja’s Gaduwa District, originally designated for Parks and Recreation but allegedly repurposed by its owner, retired Naval Chief Awwal Gambo.
Attempts by FCT officials to halt the unauthorized development were blocked when military personnel were deployed to the site. Frustrated by the obstruction, Wike personally visited the location with his team, only to be denied access by Yerima and other officers, an encounter that quickly escalated and sparked national debate.
In response to the backlash, Wike remained defiant. “I have no regrets about my political opponents. Whether you’re in PDP, APC, or ADC, I’ll keep you awake at night,” he said. “As long as I’m acting within the law, I won’t be intimidated. Ethnic or political labels don’t concern me.”
Wike’s remarks underscore his combative approach to governance and his readiness to confront challenges head-on, regardless of political affiliations or institutional resistance.
