Vice President Kashim Shettima visited Kwara State on Saturday to express condolences over the terrorist attack on Woro community in Kaiama Local Government, which claimed at least 75 lives. He described the attack as “an unacceptable violation of people’s right to peacefully practice their faith,” noting that the scale of the carnage shocked Nigerians.

Speaking during the condolence visit to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq at Government House, Shettima conveyed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s sympathy to the people of Kaiama and Kwara State. He prayed for the deceased, asking Allah to grant them Al-jannah Firdaus.

Shettima highlighted the long-standing peaceful nature of the affected communities, emphasizing their commitment to harmonious living and tolerance in practicing Islam. He condemned the intrusion of “alien religious beliefs” that have disrupted centuries of peace in the region.

In response to the attack, Shettima said a battalion of the Nigerian Army has been deployed to restore security in Kaiama and its environs. He also stated that President Tinubu has instructed the Director-General of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to mobilize resources in collaboration with the state emergency management agency to support affected communities.
