The United Nations stabilization mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo has completed a significant operational phase aimed at strengthening civilian protection, restoring security, and supporting state authority in conflict affected regions. Mission officials reported progress in reducing the presence of armed groups in targeted areas and improving coordination with Congolese security forces and local administrations.

The completed phase focused on protecting vulnerable communities, securing key transport routes, and supporting local governance structures in regions affected by long standing violence. Peacekeepers also worked closely with humanitarian agencies to improve access for relief operations and to facilitate the safe return of displaced populations. Despite these gains, mission leaders acknowledged ongoing challenges including armed group fragmentation, limited infrastructure, and persistent insecurity in remote areas.

Community engagement remains a core pillar of the mission’s strategy, with emphasis placed on dialogue with local leaders, civil society groups, and youth representatives. United Nations officials stressed that sustainable peace will depend on political stability, economic opportunity, and continued international support. The mission will now transition to the next operational phase while maintaining its commitment to civilian protection and regional stability.
