The Ukwa La Ngwa people of Abia State have donated the sum of ₦100 million to purchase the nomination form for Governor Alex Otti’s re-election bid ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

The donation was disclosed in a statement issued on Saturday by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Njoku Ukoha. According to the statement, the announcement was made on Friday during a grand civic reception organised in honour of Governor Otti at the Enyimba International Stadium, Aba.

Speaking at the event, the Chairman of the Steering Committee for the Ukwa La Ngwa Civic Reception and Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Emmanuel Emeruwa, revealed that the amount was raised collectively by the people. He added that the Ukwa La Ngwa community was willing to contribute more if the need arose.

Governor Otti, while addressing the mammoth crowd, expressed deep appreciation for the overwhelming reception and endorsement. He thanked the people for their support, encouragement, and confidence in his administration.

The governor reaffirmed his commitment to people-oriented governance, stressing that his administration prioritises public interest over personal or partisan considerations. He noted that governance in Abia State was no longer driven by self-interest, adding that the government belongs to the people.

Otti also announced that Ovom Road would be commissioned on February 25, the same day the reconstruction of the Enyimba Hotel into a five-star facility, to be handled by Radisson Blu, would be officially flagged off. He assured residents that projects initiated by his administration were meant to be completed and functional within set timelines.
He further urged Aba residents to register for their Permanent Voter Cards, take responsibility for community security, and maintain cleanliness in their neighbourhoods.

Dignitaries at the event, including Senator Adolphus Wabara, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, and Labour Party National Secretary Darlington Nwokocha, described the reception as a clear endorsement of Otti’s performance, while traditional rulers and community leaders pledged continued support for his administration.
