Two Islamic Clerics Remanded Over Alleged Abuse of Minors in Ondo State

Two Islamic clerics, Adebodun Muideen (30) of Al-Balaagul-Mubeen Arabic and Islamic Centre, and Oladejo Musiliu (35) of Abdullah Arabic and Islamic Centre, Owo, have been remanded at the Olokuta Correctional Centre, Akure, Ondo State, for allegedly inflicting serious injuries on two minors under their care.

The clerics were arraigned before the Magistrate Family Court, Akure Division, on a three-count charge of assault and child abuse. The arrests followed a petition by the child rights advocacy organisation, Kids and Teen Resource Centre, which reported visible injuries on the children in Owo.

According to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Ondo State Command, the clerics were charged under the Ondo State Violence Against Persons (Prohibition) Law, 2021, and relevant sections of the Criminal Code Law. The court adjourned the case to April 9, 2026, for trial and ordered that the clerics remain in custody pending the perfection of bail conditions.
