Former U.S. President Donald Trump has condemned the United Kingdom’s decision to transfer the Chagos Islands to Mauritius, calling it an act of “great ity” and a sign of dangerous weakness on the global stage.

The Chagos Islands include go Garcia, home to a crucial U.K. U.S. military base in the Indian Ocean. Trump warned that giving up such strategically important territory sends the wrong message to global rivals.

In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump said China and Russia only recognize strength and would view the move as a serious lapse in Western security judgment. He also claimed that, under his leadership, the United States had regained unprecedented international respect.

Trump linked the UK’s decision to his long standing argument that the U.S. must acquire Greenland for national security reasons, urging Denmark and its European allies to do the right thing.

The comments mark another moment in Trump’s broader criticism of European security decisions and his emphasis on territorial control as a key element of global power.
