Troops Arrest Cattle Rustler, Recover Arms and Stolen Livestock in Mangu, Plateau State

Troops of the 3 Division of the Nigerian Army, operating under Operation Safe Haven, have apprehended a suspected cattle rustler and seized arms, ammunition, and stolen cattle a clearance operation in Mangu Government of Plateau . The mission, executed as of Operation Lafiyan Jama’a, targeted criminal elements based on actionable intelligence regarding activities near the Youth Centre at the Sabon Layi axis of Mangu.

In a statement on Sunday, the military detailed how troops clashed with a cattle rustling syndicate in a firefight, forcing the criminals to abandon loot and scatter. “During the operation, troops one Nashak , 29, from Jwakkom Village in Mangu , who armed with an AK-47 rifle loaded with rounds of 7.62mm ammunition,” the statement disclosed. The troops also recovered 30 rustled cows, which were subsequently returned to their rightful owner, Alhaji Yakuba Musa from Kwahas Village.

The suspect, along with the confiscated arms, in military as . forces have ramped efforts to track down the fleeing members of the syndicate, a sustained push to curb cattle rustling and related crimes in the region.
