Tottenham Hotspur have begun discussions with Italian coach Roberto De Zerbi over the vacant managerial position following the departure of Igor Tudor.

Tudor left the club by mutual consent on Sunday after just 44 days in charge, ending his brief spell as interim boss. His exit followed a 3-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest, a result that left Spurs hovering just above the relegation zone and facing pressure to ilize their Premier League status.

Club officials including chief executive Vinai Venkatesham and sporting director Johan Lange are leading the search for a permanent replacement. De Zerbi, who recently parted ways with Olympique de Marseille, has emerged as the primary target. Tottenham had already made informal checks to gauge his interest even before Tudor’s departure was officially confirmed.

While De Zerbi is open to taking the role, he reportedly prefers to wait until the end of the season to make a final decision, depending on the club’s league status. Discussions are ongoing to explore whether he could take charge for the remaining fixtures of the campaign. Tottenham are reportedly prepared to offer a long term contract to secure ility after a turbulent period.

Despite the club’s interest, some fans have expressed reservations over a potential appointment, citing concerns over De Zerbi’s previous public support for former player Mason Greenwood.

Tudor’s exit was handled sensitively, given the recent death of his father, with the club allowing him time before formalizing the decision.

Tottenham now enter a critical period as they work to ilize results, rebuild confidence in the squad, and prepare for potential managerial ces that could define the remainder of the season and shape the club’s long term future.
