President Bola Tinubu has restated his administration’s resolve to bring lasting calm to Plateau State. His message, delivered in Jos by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, urged residents to choose peace and to work together to end violence.

The event marked the formal reception of defectors from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), African Democratic Congress (ADC), Labour Party (LP), New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) and Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) into the All Progressives Congress (APC). Speakers said peace is a basic need for growth and called on all sides to use talks and dialogue to settle disputes.

He said, “I stand here on behalf of the president to assure you: we will do everything possible to restore peace to Plateau. Peace will not come from outsiders; peace will begin with us.

“May the peace of the Lord that passes all understanding rest upon Plateau State. In Jesus’ name.”

Senate President Akpabio told the crowd that the APC is ready to lead and that the new members would receive equal rights inside the party. He said the defections strengthen APC’s position in the state and set the party on a path to regain the governorship while holding its federal and state seats.

APC national chairman Nentawe Yilwatda described the move as part of a wider effort to “rescue” Plateau State. He welcomed the defectors and promised they would be treated the same as other party members.

The speeches combined appeals for calm with political claims about the APC’s growing strength and pledges to work for stability and fair treatment across the state.
