Tinubu Renews Tenure of Three Federal Permanent Secretaries

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the renewal of tenure for three Permanent Secretaries in the Federal Civil Service, reaffirming the administration’s commitment to continuity and effective governance in key government institutions.

The approval, which will take effect from April 27 2026, grants the officials a second and final four year term in line with the provisions of the Public Service Rule 020909. The rule states that Permanent Secretaries initially serve a four year tenure and may be eligible for one final four year extension based on satisfactory performance and adherence to service standards.

The officials whose appointments were renewed include Ms. Kachallom Sti Daju, Permanent Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, Mrs. Beatrice Jedy Agba who serves as Solicitor General of the Federation and Permanent Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Justice, and Dr. Mary Ada Ogbe, Permanent Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Regional Development.

Their reappointment reflects confidence in their leadership capacity, administrative competence and contributions to the public service over the years. Permanent Secretaries play a critical role in ensuring the smooth implementation of government policies and the effective coordination of ministerial operations across the federal bureaucracy.

Reacting to the development, the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Didi Esther Walson Jack, congratulated the officials on their renewed tenure and encouraged them to view the extension as a call to even greater dedication and excellence in public service.

She urged them to leverage their vast professional experience and institutional knowledge to strengthen service delivery and support the implementation of government policies aimed at national development.

According to her, strong leadership within the civil service remains essential for maintaining administrative ility and ensuring that government programs translate into meaningful benefits for citizens.

The announcement was contained in a statement issued by Mrs. Eno Olotu, Director of Press and Public Relations in the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation.
