President Bola Tinubu has nominated Taiwo Oyedele as the new Minister of State for Finance, replacing Doris Uzoka Anite in a cabinet reshuffle aimed at strengthening fiscal governance.

The nomination was formally transmitted to the Senate on Tuesday in a letter addressed to Senate President Godswill Akpabio for confirmation.

Uzoka Anite has been redeployed to the Ministry of Budget and National Planning as Minister of State, marking her third portfolio under the current administration.

Oyedele, 50, hails from Ikaram Akoko in Ondo State and previously served as Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms. In that capacity, he led efforts to overhaul Nigeria tax system, introducing reforms designed to improve revenue generation and streamline tax administration.

An accomplished economist and accountant, Oyedele began his academic journey at Yaba College of Technology, where he earned a Higher National Diploma in Accountancy and Finance. He later obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Accounting from Oxford Brookes University.

He further strengthened his expertise through executive education programmes at London School of Economics, Yale University, Gordon Institute of Business Science, and Harvard Kennedy School.

Before his ministerial nomination, Oyedele spent 22 years at PricewaterhouseCoopers, joining in 2001 and rising to become Fiscal Policy Partner and Africa Tax Leader.

In academia, he serves as a professor at Babcock University and as a visiting scholar at Lagos Business School.

His nomination is widely viewed as a strategic move to deepen fiscal reforms and strengthen Nigeria economic management framework.
