Tinubu Celebrates Tony Elumelu’s Birthday, Hails His Impact on African Enterprise

President Bola Tinubu has extended warm birthday wishes to renowned economist, banker, and philanthropist Tony Elumelu as he marks his birthday on March 22.

In a congratulatory message, the President described Elumelu as a leading figure in African business and a passionate advocate for entrepreneurship across the continent. He praised his contributions to economic development through his leadership roles in major organizations, including Heirs Holdings, United Bank for Africa, and Transcorp.

Tinubu commended Elumelu’s resilience and commitment to excellence, noting that his business philosophy of Africapitalism has continued to inspire growth and innovation across Africa. The President highlighted Elumelu’s belief in empowering the next generation as a cornerstone of his legacy.

Special recognition was given to the Tony Elumelu Foundation, which has made significant strides in supporting young entrepreneurs. According to the President, the foundation’s entrepreneurship programme has trained over 2.5 million youths in 54 African countries and provided more than 24,000 entrepreneurs with non refundable seed funding of 5000 dollars each.

Tinubu noted that these initiatives have played a critical role in job creation, economic inclusion, and the promotion of innovation throughout the continent.
