The South West Security Think Tank Forum (SWSTTF) has expressed its full support for the ongoing reforms by the Bola Tinubu–led administration. The forum, represented by its convener, Major General Dayo Olukoju (rtd), emphasized the importance of these reforms in fostering sustainable development across Nigeria, despite the challenges that may arise.
In a statement, Major General Olukoju highlighted that the process of implementing far-reaching reforms is often accompanied by temporary difficulties. He noted, however, that such measures are necessary to stabilize the nation and restore it to a path of growth and stability. “Reforms of immeasurable dimensions and benefits usually come with some pains but are needed to place the country back on the path of sustainable development,” Olukoju said.
President Tinubu’s administration has rolled out several reforms aimed at addressing Nigeria’s economic, security, and governance challenges. These reforms include the removal of fuel subsidies, exchange rate unification, and structural adjustments to improve the business environment. While these initiatives are seen as critical for long-term prosperity, they have also stirred debate and opposition, particularly due to the short-term economic pain felt by many Nigerians.
