Dr. Jibril Lawal Tafida, Special Adviser to Senate President Godswill Akpabio, has publicly denied any connection to a controversial letter making the rounds on social media, which accuses top National Assembly officials of corruption and personal betrayal.

The document, dated November 22, 2025, and addressed to the Office of the President, claims that Tafida was abandoned by the Senate President during a personal crisis and levels serious allegations of misconduct within the legislature. However, the letter was unsigned and quickly went viral online, sparking speculation and concern.

In a strong response, Tafida released a statement titled “DISCLAIMER ON A FABRICATED DOCUMENT CIRCULATING IN MY NAME”, where he made it clear that he had no involvement with the letter.

“My attention has been drawn to a lengthy text circulating on media and online platforms, attributed to me and purporting to contain allegations against the President of the Senate,” Tafida said. “I state unequivocally and without ambiguity that I did not write, author, endorse, or authorize the said document in any form.”

He described the letter as a deliberate attempt to stir division and damage reputations, emphasizing that the claims were baseless. Tafida pointed out that the Senate President has no role in awarding contracts, and that the National Assembly complex is managed by the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) through a contractor, Laralex Nigeria Ltd.

He also reaffirmed his respect and loyalty to Senator Akpabio, stating that their relationship has always been built on mutual trust and professionalism. “I have never expressed or entertained any of the views contained in the circulated document,” he added.

Calling the document a tool of political mischief, Tafida urged the public and media outlets to disregard and stop sharing the false claims. “This is a deliberate attempt to weaponise my name in order to malign the leadership of the Senate and create disaffection where none exists,” he said.

He concluded by pledging continued support for the Senate’s work and reaffirming his commitment to national unity, stability, and democratic progress.
