Nigeria’s Nigeria national football team are set to face Jordan national football team in an international friendly in Amman during the March 23 to 31 FIFA window.

According to reports, the encounter will be the first ever senior level meeting between both nations. The friendly forms part of Jordan’s preparations for their maiden appearance at the FIFA World Cup. Nicknamed The Chivalrous Ones, Jordan have been drawn in a tough group alongside defending champions Argentina national football team, Algeria national football team, and Austria national football team.

There are also indications that Iran national football team are exploring a potential March fixture against the three time African champions, while a possible June clash with Portugal national football team is under consideration.

However, Nigeria’s participation in the Jordan friendly is subject to a pending decision by FIFA over an eligibility protest involving DR Congo national football team. Nigeria had filed a petition alleging that DR Congo fielded six ineligible players during the 2026 World Cup African play offs held in Morocco.

The Super Eagles were eliminated on penalties by DR Congo, marking the second consecutive failure to qualify for the World Cup. FIFA is expected to review Nigeria’s petition, and the outcome could potentially see the team reinstated into the intercontinental play offs scheduled to hold in Mexico later this month, where one of the final World Cup tickets will be decided.

Both Nigeria and DR Congo are reportedly prepared to approach the Court of Arbitration for Sport if dissatisfied with the ruling, prompting FIFA to handle the matter with caution.
